I, Carl Maria von Weber, composer of music, residing at Dresden in the Kingdom of Saxony, do hereby acknowledge, that I have received from Mr George Thomson of the City of Edinburgh in Scottland, by the hands of the Baroness Ende née de Globiz, Fourty Ducats, for composing at his request Ritornells or Symphonies and accompaniments for the Pianoforte, Violin, Flute and Violoncello, to Ten Scottish Airs. And I declare and certify that the aforesaid Ritornellos or Symphonies and Accompaniments so composed by me for the said Mr Thomson, are hereby conveyed to him and to his heirs and Assignees as his and their sole and absolute property for England, Ireland and Scottland in perpetuity, without any reservation whatever. Given under my hand and Seal at Dresden the first of December one thousand eight hundred and twenty five.
