Solo-Vc in Berlin (1885); dann ab 1886 Cellist im Gewandhausorchester; ab 1889 in Boston (USA); 1890–1905 Mitglied der New Yorker Philharmoniker unter Walter Damrosch; er unterichtete am National Conservatory, war Mitglied im Margulies Trio und im Mannes-Quartett.
