Michael Kelly to Sir George Smart in London
London, Tuesday, May 2, 1826
My Dear Sir George
As you have always proved to me your kind wishes for my interests – I send to you a Sketch of the Entertainments I should like to have if they are to be accomplished begin at Seven o clock ...‡
The Overture to Freyschutz with the opera Band – and if von Weber was to conduct it* tant mieux pour Mois en suite an Aria from Pasta or a Duet with Braham which would give Madam Pasta full time to get at | Eight o clock at the Ancient Concert – the first Act of Il Barbiere di Siviglia to follow – after which a Ballet* – to conclude with Killing No Murder* with Mathew and Liston – if these Entertainments can be combined, I have no doubt they will be Highly attractive – which I am sure will be as much your friendly wish as my own – now My Dear Sir George have the Kindness | to drop me a Line to inform me if you have spoken to Mrs Coutts‡* Madam Pasta – or if you think there is a probability of my getting her assistance. I know you well excuse the trouble I give you but it is high time to announce my Ball of Fare in the News Papers*
yours faithfully obliged
